Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Shimla to Narkanda/Chitkul
Your epic Spiti road trip begins from Shimla. After an early breakfast, board your private SUV and drive through the dense forests of Kufri and Narkanda. Enjoy panoramic views of the Shivalik ranges. By late afternoon, we reach the beautiful Sangla Valley and drive up to Chitkul, the last inhabited village on the Indo-Tibet border. Check into your cozy homestay or camp. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
Chitkul to Kalpa
Wake up to the sound of the Baspa river. After exploring Chitkul, drive back through the Sangla valley towards Kalpa. Kalpa is a beautiful Himalayan village offering the most spectacular views of the Kinner Kailash mountain range. Check into your hotel, walk through the local apple orchards, and witness a magnificent sunset over the snowy peaks. Dinner and overnight stay in Kalpa.
Day 3
Kalpa to Kaza via Nako & Tabo
Today is a long but breathtakingly beautiful drive. The terrain changes dramatically as you enter the barren, moon-like landscapes of Spiti Valley. Stop at Nako Lake, a high-altitude sacred lake. Continue your journey to visit the Tabo Monastery, famously known as the "Ajanta of the Himalayas" and over 1000 years old. Reach Kaza, the headquarters of Spiti Valley, by evening. Rest and acclimatize to the high altitude.
Day 5
Kaza to Chandratal Lake
Early morning departure from Kaza. Drive towards Losar and cross the majestic Kunzum Pass (15,000 ft). The descent from Kunzum takes you towards the magical Chandratal Lake (The Moon Lake). You will have to hike the last 1 km to reach the lake. The crystal clear blue waters surrounded by snow-capped peaks is a sight to behold. Enjoy an overnight stay in premium Swiss tents near Chandratal under a canopy of stars.
Day 6
Chandratal to Manali
Wake up early to witness a glorious sunrise over Chandratal. After breakfast, brace yourself for the most adventurous off-road drive of your life through Batal and Chhatru. Cross the famous Rohtang Pass or Atal Tunnel to enter the lush green Kullu Valley. Arrive in Manali by evening, check into your luxury resort, take a hot shower, and relax after the rugged Spiti terrain.
Day 7
Manali Leisure Day
After consecutive days of travel, today is kept for relaxation. Enjoy a lazy breakfast. You can optionally visit the Hadimba Temple, Old Manali cafes, or take a stroll on the Mall Road for souvenir shopping. Rejuvenate your body and mind. Enjoy a farewell dinner with your group at the resort.
Day 7
Pin Valley & Mudh Village Exploration
Drive into the enchanting Pin Valley National Park. Visit Mudh village, the last village of Pin Valley, known for snow leopards and ibex. Enjoy traditional Himachali homestay tea.
Day 8
Dhankar Monastery & Lake Trek
Visit the cliff-hanging Dhankar Monastery overlooking the confluence of Spiti and Pin rivers. Take a short 45-minute trek to the serene high-altitude Dhankar Lake. Overnight stay in Kaza.
